The NLBA will be offering our second annual Skills Academy. This program will be directed toward athletes between grades 4 and 7 and will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to grow into a high-level basketball player.
Central Skills Academy and the West Coast Skills Academy is also open to grade 8 students as well.
The athletes will gather monthly to work on footwork, ballhandling, passing, finishing, and shooting, in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. Each month players will be led by some of the best skill development coaches across the island in conjunction with the NLBA technical staff and other guest coaches. The Skills Academy will be aimed at helping both coaches and players develop and gather the necessary knowledge to move forward in the game and compete at the next level. Often, in a school or club atmosphere, time must be devoted to concepts and ideas that help athletes compete, in the Skill Academy these young athletes will get extra time to work on the skills that are necessary to help them progress without the stress of competition. Players will learn both on and off court as we develop aim to develop holistic athlete. We look forward to in developing your child’s skillset in a fun and hard-working environment
There will not be any try-outs, this will be a development focused program with no games, all levels of experience are welcome.
The NLBA is excited for the second year of our Skills Academy program and look forward to sharing our knowledge with the next generation of great players in the province and all their coaches. Registration will be online through the NLBA website.
