NLBA Invitational Tournaments
The NLBA hosts two big tournaments each year which are played at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre: The Hall of Fame Cup (Elite 8) and the Tip Off Tournament for Grades 7 and 8. Grade 7 & 8 Tip-off Tournament - December 6-8, 2024
The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) will be hosting the “2024 NLBA December Tip-off” on December 6-8, 2024, at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre, 100 Crosbie Road, St. John’s. The tournament will be modified double elimination, 3 games guarantee and will be run under all the Minor Rules (5 on 5 off.) for grade 7 and 8.
The tournament is open to the first eight grade 7 teams in both male and female tournaments and the first grade 8 teams in both the male and female genders. Each school will be permitted to put in one team per gender and grade, other teams from the school would be put on a wait list as well as younger teams (e.g., Grade 6) will be put on a wait list.
The deadline to enter the NLBA December Invitational is November 8, 2024. All fees must accompany the registration form. Team registration fees are set at $390.00.
The NLBA will be using the RAMP Registration System again this year, however there are a few changes.
1) Every player and coach must be a member of the NLBA & Canada Basketball. When the parents join your team they will be prompted to pay the membership fee totaling $21.50 ($9 Canada Basketball and $12.50 NLBA) by credit card. If the participant has paid the fee elsewhere (club/skills academy/other program) they will not be prompted to pay twice.
2) Coaches will register their team by putting the players names and email addresses into the system, it will send invites to the participants for them to register to join the team. All team members must be registered to be eligible to participate.
All staff and participants must be registered NLBA Members. Membership is done through our RAMP registration portal after the team has been registered. Please see the below documents for registering your team, and having your staff/participants register to be members.

2025 Hall of Fame Cup Championships
Date: February 21-23, 2025
Place: NL Sports Centre, St. John's
Teams: By invitation only to the top ranked high school teams in the province. The tournament will feature the top eight High School Teams in both the male and female categories as selected by a panel of individuals selected by the NLBA.
If your high school team is hosting an invitational tournament or competing in a single game, please complete the appropriate “Result Form” email (lchatman@sportnl.ca) it to the provincial office the Monday following the game or tournament. Tournament results will commence on November 1st, 2024. Results before this date will not be considered for ranking purposes.
