Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) is the Provincial Sport Governing Body for basketball in this province. We are managed by a Board of Directors which are elected by its members. The Board is tasked with ensuring that all people of this province have access to the programs run by the association and that the game of basketball is enjoyed by as many people possible! The NLBA was created in 1964 and is responsible for the promotion and development of basketball in the Province. Our Mission is to provide vision, inspiration and support for all communities to create opportunities for participation and play. The NLBA’s leadership will forge a cohesive, united organization dedicated to building the game of basketball in Newfoundland and Labrador.

First Ranking Released
The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) has released the first set of rankings for the Hall of Fame Cup Championship to be held on February 20-22, 2026, at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre in St. John’s.
The selection committee, consisting of Chair Roger Head, Judy Byrne, Amanda Miles, Kieran Lynch, Bill Brophy, Randy Ball, Gerard Brien, Randy Ash, Wayne Rose, Jonathon Snow, and Bill Hurley, have gathered scores of invitational tournaments, exhibition games, and league play over the past two months.
The first set of rankings includes results from tournaments and games held before January 12th. Below are the teams based on the results currently submitted to the NLBA office across the province.

Canada Basketball & the CBOC have updated its guidelines on wearing faith-based items and spiritual artifacts. Our NLBOC officials will follow these guidelines. Please ensure you have reviewed it before your games.

Several changes were approved at the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM). Summaries of these changes are provided below. We are currently in the process of updating the Minor Rules Manual to reflect these revisions, with the updated version expected to be published by mid-November 2025.
